Los Angeles is home to many interesting companies. Did you know that Sriracha hot sauce was created in 1980 by David Tran in Chinatown? Harry Snyder opened the first In-N-Out Burger in 1948 in Baldwin Park. In 1973, Andrew and Peggy Cherng opened the first Panda Inn restaurant, the precursor to Panda Express, in Pasadena. Forever 21 opened their first store in Highland Park back in 1984.
Los Angeles is also the founding place of many innovative ventures. SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, is located in Hawthorne. Bill Gross’s Idealab, based in Pasadena, is the force behind many ventures from Citysearch, eSolar, Goto.com, Picasa, to Tickets.com. It was Bill who pioneered the idea behind Adwords and it was Google who capitalized on it!
Los Angeles is also home to some really crazy ideas. Snapchat and Dollar Shave Club are both headquartered in Venice. If you are looking for crazy ideas, there is no better place than Silicon Beach, home to 500+ tech startups.
